Wow! Look at our mobile application for Pelotonics!

This is a little sneak peek into our mobile application. Please realize that this is just a mock up and is changing as we speak. We are currently working on the icons to finalize our navigation. The icons are clearly generic right now and will be updated with our own take on what they should be.
Why a mobile app?
We are creating the mobile application because many of our users have asked for it. It makes all the sense in the world and is especially a great tie in with our Evernote integration. I use voice notes to archive ideas and tasks that need to happen for Pelotonics. With a mobile application, I will now be able to archive the thought in Evernote and then assign it out as a task or start a discussion with the group as a message right from my phone!
We also decided to do a mobile application that was browser based as opposed to a native application for the iPhone. We resisted the tempatation here for the sake of our users that are on platforms other than Apple! One of our good friends, Gina Trapani, just migrated over to the new G1 and we wanted to make sure that it would work on her phone as well!
Style choices we made
We decided that we wanted the mobile application to work with the color schemes that we allow on Pelotonics. If your site is green, then the application would appear like the one above. If you have it with a blue background, that would also be reflected in the mobile application.
When creating a mobile application, image compression and minimization is of utmost concern. We are currently working on that aspect to make sure that our site works well on slower cellular-based connections like the Edge network. This is where we are spening most of our time right now!
We are excited about this new mobile aspect to Pelotonics and hope that you are as well. The good news is that the mobile application will be free to all those that are associated with a paying plan. That includes your customers and collaborators not affiliated with your company!

Looking forward to the mobile app… I’ll be checking it out on my Win Mobile device. I mainly use Opera 9.5 beta, but also the built-in IE (in a pinch or when a site doesn’t play nice with Opera).
March 17th, 2009 at 1:35 pmVery good Michael. I think that you will be fine with Opera 9.5. We are trying to make sure that it plays nicely on most any device.
Send me your email and I will get you a link to preview on your device. That would help us with the QC process. The more devices we can view it on, the better!
March 17th, 2009 at 2:12 pmHi is it possible for me to beta test? I have an iphone and accounts on evernote and pelotonics. Thanks in advance.
April 19th, 2009 at 5:40 amConsider yourself on the list Roger! I think you will enjoy the Mobile application!
We will inform you when it is ready for beta testers.
Thanks,
Troy
April 19th, 2009 at 6:37 amI would also volunteer for the beta, I am still in the “trial” phase for using the program but so far it is great. I run a real estate development company and use the site for all my consultants coordination pre-construction. So far so good.
This is really an untapped market for services like this. Let me know what I can do to help. Thanks, Chris
June 23rd, 2009 at 6:44 pmHello. I would like to be a beta tester when you are ready to start. I too have an iphone and evernote. I like the integration of pelotonics and evernote, however project management has to be mobile (iphone) to be useful for me. Thank you for your time.
July 9th, 2009 at 4:36 pmI would like to be a beta tester. Heading out of the country and would love to keep everyone working via my iphone and pelotonics.
July 13th, 2009 at 5:55 pmAny news when the Pelotnics mobile app will be available? I’m keen to get something for my iPhone. Thanks, Sarah
July 30th, 2009 at 7:25 amI agree, mobile access is a must for any sucsessful website these days. Speed and accessibility is key for task management on the go. I would like to participate in the beta as well. I generally prefer apps b/c they eliminate the need to logon repeatedly, but a mobile website with a “remember me” feature and a dedicated launcher icon (curve, in my case) would work too.
August 19th, 2009 at 4:25 amWhile the iphone is great, there are still some of us blackberry users out here that would like a mobile website/app. I am about to give up waiting since it has been in the works for quite a while. We are in the stage now where it is almost a necesity sp?, since we are travelling more and not always able to login with a laptop to manage the project while away. Reply to messages has worked well, but need a way to create projects, tasks remotely through my blackberry. We are at the point now where we are considering building something new ourselves integrating with our helpdesk.
Thoughts?
Thanks,

Thanks for your input here Kevin. You make a perfect case for us to do the mobile application the way we are. We are doing an application that is an optimized experience for a mobile browsers as opposed to an installed app. We will of course wrap it in a browser application, but for the most part, it will use the native application on the device. This means that whatever device you have, provided it has a browser, you will be able to work in Pelotonics on it.
As far as the timing of things, I couldn’t share your frustration more! We just want to make sure that we do it right and that when we release it, it is what will make our user base happy. We are circling in on the final stages of testing and will deploy it as soon as we can!
Thanks for your input again…
